Lumphini Park Bangkok – A Peaceful Lake Beneath the City Skyline

In a city known for its traffic, crowded streets and towering skyscrapers, Lumphini Park offers a completely different perspective on Bangkok. Standing beside the lake, I was drawn to the contrast between the peaceful green surroundings and the modern skyline rising beyond the treetops.

The photograph captures the lake in the foreground, its gently rippling surface reflecting the soft afternoon light. A dense line of tropical trees separates the water from the surrounding high-rises, while a tall glass skyscraper dominates the centre of the composition. Above the city, dramatic clouds catch the last warm sunlight.

What interested me most was the natural division of the scene into three distinct layers: water, greenery and architecture. I included the overhanging branches to frame the photograph and create a sense of depth. The small white lakeside pavilion provides another visual detail, almost disappearing beneath the enormous buildings behind it.

For me, landscape photography in Bangkok is not just about spectacular rooftop views or illuminated skylines. Places like Lumphini Park reveal how nature and modern urban life exist side by side in Thailand's capital.
