Bangkok at Night – A Tuk-Tuk in the Glow of the City

There are moments when Bangkok can be summed up in a single frame. A colourful tuk-tuk waits in the street, its green body reflecting the surrounding lights, while behind it a busy restaurant glows with menus, signs and warm evening light.

I was drawn to the contrast between the traditional character of the tuk-tuk and the colourful, modern atmosphere of Bangkok after dark. The vehicle stands almost perfectly isolated against the illuminated restaurant, while the wet road creates subtle reflections beneath it. Even the tree growing through the scene becomes part of the composition, adding a touch of nature to this very urban moment.

For me as a travel photographer, this is what makes street photography in Bangkok so rewarding. You don't always need a famous landmark. Sometimes a parked tuk-tuk, a food restaurant and the evening activity of the street are enough to tell a story about everyday life in Thailand.

The photograph captures Bangkok as I experience it when walking through the city at night: colourful, busy, authentic and full of small visual stories that appear for only a moment.
