Bangkok Pratunam – Traffic, Taxis and the Pulse of the City

Pratunam is one of those parts of Bangkok where the energy of the city can be felt immediately. From this elevated viewpoint, the streets below are filled with colourful taxis, tuk-tuks, motorcycles, buses and delivery vehicles, all moving through one of Bangkok’s busiest urban districts.

The Platinum Fashion Mall dominates the right side of the scene, while the dense collection of high-rise buildings creates a powerful backdrop. Below, the familiar green-and-yellow taxis stand out among pink taxis, private cars and motorcycles. Even on an overcast day, Bangkok's streets remain full of colour and movement.

What I particularly like about this photograph is the contrast between the organised road structure and the apparent chaos of the traffic. From above, individual vehicles become small elements within a much larger urban composition. Yet every vehicle represents someone going somewhere — shopping, working, delivering goods or simply crossing the city.

For me, Pratunam is Bangkok at street level: busy, commercial, colourful and constantly changing. It is not the polished postcard version of the capital, but a genuine glimpse into the everyday rhythm of Bangkok.
