A Smile Behind the Stall – A Thai Market Vendor in Pattaya

At Photisarn Market in Pattaya, a simple smile turns an ordinary market scene into a memorable encounter. Standing behind her food stall, the vendor looks directly toward my camera with a warm, spontaneous expression. For me, this is the kind of moment that makes photographing everyday life in Thailand so rewarding.

I kept the surrounding market environment deliberately visible. The stainless-steel equipment, colourful plastic trays, food products and other vendors working in the background all help tell the story. This is not a studio portrait; it is an environmental portrait of a woman at work, photographed within the rhythm of the market.

Her smile creates the emotional centre of the frame, while the colourful details around her add depth and authenticity. I particularly like the contrast between her dark apron, the vivid red and yellow objects behind her and the cooler blue tones throughout the market.
